Old Boss pays tribute
A former manager of a Whinmoor team took time to contact the club recently to pay tribute to four of his former players. Wayne Johnson, who managed the team for nearly 8 years, was impressed with the commitment of the four lads who recently celebrated ten years with the club. "I remembered them all at the very beginning, from the age of six", reminisced Wayne, who took his team to the Harrogate & District cup final in 2007, "and I would like to say well done on your commitment to Harry Uttley, Danny Squires, Andy Quinn and Danny McMahon." The team recently called it a day, and this was what prompted Wayne to write. "It's so sad to see it all end, but I have very fond memories of my time with the club. Not some of the cold and wet Sunday mornings, though..." 20/07/11
Website gets a bit of spit'n'polish
You'll notice that the club website is undergoing a bit of a facelift over the summer, and this is very much a work in progress. As well as moving the news to the front page, you'll notice we now have a webshop. If you follow this link, you can visit all the major shopping websites such as Amazon, Asda, Aviva Insurance, and Auto Trader, and that's just the 'A's! It won't affect the great deals that you get with these sites, but for everything you buy when going through this link, Whinmoor Juniors gets a percentage of everything you spend. So you'll be making a valuable contribution to the club, and it won't cost you a penny. And I've looked - there isn't a catch!
Another big change is that I've moved the photographs. We were getting so many that we were running out of space, so I've shifted them all over to Flickr. Click on the Gallery to see how it works.
There's also a live twitter feed, so when the season starts, the website will have scores on them immediately - if not sooner! And as soon as I can work out how to do it with Facebook, those comments will appear on here as well!
