A number of our teams had the week off this week, as the rain made its debut for the season!
Our under 9s played their first league fixtures - and came away with two great victories against Ripon. The league fixtures ended with 6-0 and 7-0 victories, and in the two following friendlies, Whinmoor ran out 5-0 and 4-1 winners. Although there will be tougher tests to come, the boys passed this one with flying colours. Well done lads!
Our Under 13s won a cracking game of football away at Pannal Ash, coming back from 5-4 down early in the second half to emerge with a 7-5 win, with Kyle Farrar finishing them off with a hat-trick, including a stonker into the top corner from miles out. This was their first victory in the top division, and was very well deserved.
Our under 14s are finding the going a bit tougher after their step up, and a depleted team fell foul of a Knaresborough side at the very top of their game.
Our under 17s were 2-1 down and one man down when Callum Gartland's perfectly struck free-kick earned them a point late on at home to Wetherby. Billy Hayes had earlier given them the lead with a cracker on his debut, as the lads continue their unbeaten start to the season.
The second week of the season brought a few surprising results for our teams this week.
Our under 8s played their first ever games, and although they were pipped to the post, the future looks rosy for our newest team.
Our under 11s started their season with a victory and three narrow defeats against Lawnswood, which was all the more impressive because both sides were a man short.
The Under 13s were cruelly defeated in their first game in the top division, going down to Wetherby, with a narrow 2-1 scoreline, despite playing the better football.
Our under 14s lost out by a single goal in the Leeds & District cup to a powerful Amaranth side. The lads are finding their feet very quickly at the new higher level, and the results will start coming soon.
Our under 15s went down to a heavy defeat away at Colton in the Black Prince Trophy
Our under 17s belatedly got their season of to a start - but what a start! After a goal-less first half, goals from Jordan Whitaker, Nathan Kay, Craig Farrar, Brandon Stansfield, Connor Robinson and Joe Welsh gave Whinmoor a 6-0 victory over Guiseley Blues.
Our under 18s were just on the wrong end of a goal-feast against Kirk Deighton, and were defeated by the odd goal in 11!

And they're off....!
The 2012/13 season started in spectacular style in the blazing sunshine today.
Our under 9s started off at home against Bardsey, and came away with two wins, a draw, and a very narrow defeat in the four games. The amount of skill and sportsmanship on show from all the players involved was excellent, and it was great to see such great support there for the lads.
Our under 13s have got off to a decent start, maintaining a mid-table place. This is all the more remarkable seeing as they didn't actually play!
Our under 14s went down to a 3-1 defeat at Beckwithshaw, the team who pipped them to the title last year.
Our under 15s started their season at home, and unfortunately went down 5-1 to a well organised Wigton Moor side.
And last, but certainly not least, our under 18s got their season off to a flier, travelling to Guiseley Blue and dishing out a 4-1 victory, limiting a strong Guiseley side a single consolation goal at the end, when the game was over as a contest.
Whinmoor Juniors Under 14 (Yellows)
We regret to report that Whinmoor Juniors Under 14 Yellows, which was run last season with such enthusiasm by Andy Skenfield, has withdrawn from the league, due to a lack of players
Despite Andy's best efforts over the summer, he just couldn't attract the numbers needed and has reluctantly taken the decision to withdraw.
