Results Roundup for 29th December .... sort of
What a great afternoon up at Powerleague as the coaches took on the parents. Despite a lack of fitness from quite a few of us, there was some delicious football and cracking goals. The coaches edged it this time but the parents are already recruiting and have an intensive fitness regime prepared! Thanks to Tom Kilbride for letting us have his free pitch - mind you Tom was on fire so enjoyed it. Gareth walked away with the MoM for scoring and setting up bloomin' loads of goals. Great laugh. Cheers everyone. Let's do it again. Perhaps an end of the season game?

So happy about today's games against Rothwell Juniors for our U10s (and 4 U9s!) . Great atmosphere, competitive games, skills aplenty, some great goals, top defending and no pressure. Appreciate that it's hugely busy this weekend so thanks for giving up your time. Only lost against their strongest team and the mainly U9s boys came back against this same team to grab a deserved 3-3 draw. Smiles everywhere. Top way to end football in 2013. Thanks for everyone that goes out of their way to make it all happen every week. You know who you are.

Great performance from our under 8's at Wigton Moor today. Every player put in a fantastic effort on a really really heavy pitch. Goals from Kieran, Tyler and Freddie and some huge tackles from some of the smallest players on the pitch - Myles, Kai and Grace! Well done everyone, it's such a pleasure to see you developing into a proper little team.
On the Skelton Woods mud bath our under 9s managed 4 victories 2-1 2-0 5-1 and 12-1! MoM's were defensive rocks Connor and Abhik, midfield maestro Ashton and super striker Callum. Goals for Bradley 10 (ten) Callum 2 Aaron 2 Nathan 2 Daniel 2 Lewis 2 and Ashton. Last September we took 9 players to Killinghall in our 1st ever fixture, we had to borrow some of their players to make up numbers and got soundly beaten in all 4 games - Sunday was the return fixture and we showed just how far we have come.
Our U10s played against our close rivals Killinghall and had some cracking games. I was lucky enough to see Tom's lads come back from 2-1 down at HT to win 5-2. Some great passing and superb skills on display. Noah netted 3, Cian 1 and Lewis Ha with a classy finish. Ben MoM for being a defensive rock. The same lads couldn't play the same way in the next game on the very heavy pitch and struggled a bit to adapt but a useful lesson. Sometimes we just need to roll our sleeves up! The opposition did so and finished every chance to win 4-1. Stuart's lads were great and a tight game ended up with Whinmoor stretching away at the end to win 5-3. James netted 3 and Ethan 2 with Lewis Ho the MoM. He never loses a tackle! The next game was equally impressive with a 4-1 win, with Bailey getting 2 and one each for James and Ethan. The parents agreed that James just had to be the MoM. What a display. Well done lads.

Our U10s took on Wetherby today and it's fair to say the lads enjoyed it. Stuart's lads had a thrilling first game, passing and probing before Wetherby went ahead with their first chance. The lads teased us and left it late to pile in 3 goals in the last 5 mins, started by James' diving header and Mason's brace which secured him the MoM again. The second game was easier as the lads streamed forward and didn't give them a minute. I reffed it but can't remember all the scorers. Kieran collected the MoM for loads of assists and his own hat-trick. Ben got his 1st goal, JP netted, Cian 3, Lewis some, James too. Tom's lads were equally good and had the 1st game wrapped up v quickly with 4 for Noah (inc 1st ever header) and Bailey and Brad smacking the ball home. Josh G's great solo effort was the only 2nd half goal. Some lovely play but Ethan had to be MoM. Played on wing and set up 4 goals. Didn't see second game but more good stuff with Brad, Noah (2), Ethan, Josh G and Ethan netting. Josh G MoM but great performances from everyone inc Josh B and Lewis. Well done lads.
A brace from Liam today meant our u15s went into the Christmas break with 4 wins on the bounce. An under strength side had to battle hard for their result with players missing all over the park. Everyone played their part too with no subs and a heavy pitch made the win extra special for the lads taking part. At times Whinmoor played some lovely one and two touch football and looked to be cruising at times. And when called upon defended superbly.

Tough trip for our u9's to Beckwithshaw on the 3G pitch, came away with 3 defeats 4-2 5-3 4-2 and a 0-0 draw. The lads found it difficult on the 3G, and also to hit the low goals, we had plenty of shots just over the bar. Never mind though, its been a long time since we had a bad day. MoM's went to Bradley Lewis Nathan and Daniel. Goals for Bradley (4) Callum Nathan and Lewis.
Some late withdrawals left our Under 10s a little short on players but it mattered little as the 10 we had just worked harder against their 12. JP, James, Noah, Lewis and Mason played out of their skins winning both games 9-1. A player down they tackled like demons (esp Lewis), kept winning the 1-on-1s and passed it around nicely, including great crosses. The finishing was exquisite! James netted 4, Noah 3 and 2 for Mason. Noah got the MoM for blood spilt on the pitch. James got another 3 in the 2nd game, Noah 3, JP 2 and Mason 1. Mason's skills were amazing today and earned the MoM. Tom's lads started a little slowly but once they'd worked out how to play against more men, they surged ahead and Man of the match Lewis Ha was instrumental with 3 goals and Brad to finish 4-1. A cracking 2nd game had a big crowd enthralled as the lads enjoyed a 6-5 win. I think Bradley netted 3, Lewis Ha 1, Kieran and Josh B.
Our U14s travelled to Shipley today in the County Cup, and took on a team top of the Bradford league and yet to be beaten. Whinmoor came away with a superb 4-3 victory, dominating the game. We raced into a 3-0 lead, which shocked 'em! Goals from Ellis, Cam, Bailey & Jake! Bailey was brilliant today and just edged M-O-M, but Dylan in goal was great too. Well done all of you very proud!
Our U15s had a confidence boosting win again today to follow on from last week, although it started with a crossbar challenge after every shot they had rebounded off it! It was a good opportunity today to experiment with some of the kids who may not normally get a full game, and they did themselves proud. Abundance of goals came following all the hard work. Liam 4 Frecky 2 Joe 1 was just what the lads needed. We had a brilliant team spirit throughout. It was Josh who picked up the motm after a super display, but there were so many contenders!
