21st September 2008 Knaresborough Celtic
2
Whinmoor Juniors

League Barnes (2)
Crouz (3)

After missing the first two weeks of the season with waterlogged pitches, Whinmoor went to Knaresborough with the intention of getting an early goal, and after 6 minutes, Piteu Crouz duly obliged, giving the vistors a deserved lead. Knaresborough found it hard to get out of their own half, and within 20 mins, Piteu had completed a superb first-half hat-trick. Whinmoor dominated the first half, with some superb play, with some great passes from Josh Ross and Jordan Carty, and Cameron Cooper who looked assured and confident in defence, with Mick Johnston, making his league debut between the sticks, making some excellent saves. He was truly on form.
In the second half, Whinmoor expected to get more, but the efforts of the first half had taken its toll in the warm weather. Whinmoor tired towards the end, but still challenged for every ball. Knaresborough pulled 2 easy goals back, but Whinmoor managed to find the strength to hold on for a wonderful 3-2 win.
A great result for us, which gave the players the boost to tackle this new season with confidence and enthusiasm.

Crouz (3)

Whinmoor started poorly, going 2 down in the early stages, but with good runs from Ross and Carty, Whinmoor fought their way back into the game with two goals from Piteu Crouz. Before the half time break, Guy, Carty and Evans all went close, but the home side edged ahead and finished the half 4-2 up. Within the opening minute of the second half, Piteu Crouz pulled another one back to complete his second hat-trick in as many weeks. As Whinmoor pushed forward for an equaliser, Goodman was called upon twice to clear off the line, but Nidd United scrambled another two after Whinmoor had lost Rothera to injury in the last six minutes to give the scoreline a flattering look . All in all, a great effort from Whinmoor, which deserved a better result than they got.

Whinmoors first home game of the season brought their first home win. Pannal Sports Panthers arrived expecting to win,and with only a minute gone, the visitors were a goal up, and looking strong. Whinmoor were stung into action by this, and Evans equalised two minutes later. The first half remained tight, and the half-time score was 1-1.
Whinmoor started the second half superbly, which goal machine Crouz putting the home side ahead right at the start. The Panthers equalised soon afterwards, and then started to get the upper hand, with Boniface making a number of fine clearances to keep the scores level. At the other end, Carty was unlucky not to get on the score sheet, but Crouz put the hosts ahead, and then notched another to put the game out of reach, completing his 3rd hat trick in as many games making the final score 4-2 to Whinmoor, putting them up to third in the league.

League Cup Crouz

Whinmoor started this cup-game very strongly, and Evans went close early on. It became an even game, with some good shots from both sides, and after Wigton took the lead on 10 minutes, Piteu Crouz levelled on 20 minutes. The half ended with honours even at 1-1.

In the second half, Wigton Moor took control. In goal, Mick Johnston was the busiest man on the field, but eventually he cracked and Wigton Moor eventually ran out 6-1 winners.

Wigton Moor turned up expecting a win, and got it against a weakened home team. After racing into an early 2 goal lead, Wigton Moor extended their lead from a disputed penalty. Without their first-choice keeper, stand-in James Mason put in a sterling effort for Whinmoor, and Jordan Carty and Josh Ross managed to find the net for Whinmoor, with Piteu Crouz notching his traditional hat-trick, but it was never going to be enough against a strong Wigton Moor outfit, but the Whinmoor lads showed their battling spirit by fighting right until the final whistle. Crouz (4), Woldegebreal (3), Carty (2), Whitaker.

Whinmoor went to bottom of the table Killinghall expecting to win easily, but were in for a shock. Killinghall played well in the first half. Whinmoor opened the scoring, ,but the home side wouldn't lie down, and by half time the score was 3-2 to Whinmoor.
The second half saw a stronger Whinmoor with some great defending from Boniface , Cooper and Goodman. Josh Ross was back to his best with some
great tackling and great runs. New midfielder Mick Woldegebreal scored early in second half, but wasn't satisfied with 1 and managed 2 more to complete a glorious hat-trick. Piteu Crouz got 4 to take his total to 17 for the season, and Jordan Carty netted twice 2. Killinghall managed to pull back one more, but a long awaited goal from Jordan Whittaker took the final score to 10-3 (Posted by GB 23/11/08)

League Crouz (5), Goodman, o.g.

Whinmoor had a point to prove to Nidd United after losing at their ground back in September. The visitors didn't make it easy in the first 15 mins, and it was anyones game - that is until Crouz intervened by putting Whinmoor ahead. As usual, 1 was never enough, so he notched another 2 by the break, with a defensive mix up letting Nidd on the scoresheet. At half time, Whinmoor were ahead 3-1, after a good first half debut from Kunda Musonda.

The Second half saw Nidd have a bit more of the game - a stunning volley brought the score to 4-2 at one point, but that was as close as they got, as Whinmoor pushed on to make the game safe, with another 2 goals from Crouz, and Goodman scoring from the spot nearly taking the netting off the post!(Posted by GB 30/11/08)

Crouz (3), Whittaker (2), Musonda, Woldegebreal

Whinmoor dominated the first half against Pannal Sports Panthers, and started quickly with a goal from Jordan Whittaker after 25 seconds. Pannal had some good moves, but when Piteu Crouz got his hat trick putting Whinmoor 4-0 up,the visitors had the game in the bag.
In the second half, the Panthers improved enough to give Whinmoor something to think about, but the visitors got back into their rhythm with goals from Musonda, Woldegebreal and Whittaker. New 1st goalkeeper Jack Rothera had a quiet game, but brought down an attacker in the area, giving them a penalty, which led to their first goal. They followed that with another before the end. Much credit to Pannal Panthers for their determination to keep fighting to the end, but the game was never in doubt, and Whinmoor notched their fifth league win of the season. (Posted by GB 11/1/09)

Crouz (2), Carty

Whinmoor visited top of the league Wigton Moor Athletic on a blustery day, and despite playing up hill inthe first half, Piteu Crouz put Whinmoor ahead after 10 mins. An excellent through ball saw Jordan Carty double the visitors lead. Wigton weren't going to lie down, though, and came back to make
it 2-1. Crouz soon followed with another putting us in front at half time by 3-1.
Second half saw Wigton take control. Playing with the wind, they played themselves back into the game, levelling at 3-3. Whinmoor managed to find the strength to hold on for a point. The best performance of the season from Whinmoor against a strong Wigton side. (Posted by GB 18/1/09)

Quite a pleasant day for Killinghall Nomads Warriors to visit Whinmoor. Crouz put the home side ahead in the 3rd min, and within 4 minutes, the hitman Crouz had made the score 4-0, and Musonda got another 2 before the break. Killinghall played well, and pulled one back, but they were no match for an on form Whinmoor, and the half-time saw a 6-1 scoreline.

The second half saw Whinmoor continue to take advantage of every oppotunity. Whittaker got 2 and was at his best this season before a brave header saw his game end early with an eye injury. Only 10 mins later, however, Boniface also had to come off with a groin injury, leaving Whinmoor with only 9 players, Killinghall took advantage of this and pulled 1 back, but Whinmoor soon regained the initiative and continued scoring at regular intervals, the final tally reading 14 to an on-fire Whinmoor, and 2 to the visitors Killinghall. Whinmoor travelled up the A1 to a bitterly cold Boroughbridge. The home side started quicker, and took the lead early. Crouz scored the first Whinmoor goal, and the ball was hitting the net on a regular basis until half time, when the score stood at 'Bridge 4, Whinmoor 3.

In the second half, the home side came out fighting and soon improved on their lead, but the visitors fought back and soon gained a 6-5 lead. With 2 minutes left, a controversial penalty was awarded to the home side, and they picked Whinmoors pocket to take the point. (Posted by GB 1/2/09)

Whinmoor welcomed Leeds Maccabi to Skelton Woods on a lovely sunny day (for once!) The first half could have gone either way with some good chances from both sides, but neither could find the net until Crouz opened the scoring for Whinmoor with a great goal.
The second half saw Maccabi come back strong, but Whinmoor matched them all the way. A momentary lapse of concentration allow the visitors in to equalise, but Crouz soon came back to restore Whinmoor's lead. 20 minutes later saw us at 3 all. A controversial decision from the ref dissalowed a goal, but gave us a penalty instead after advantage was played. A poor tackle saw Danny Evans taken off with stud holes in his leg. All in all a good game and a fair result for both sides. (Posted by GB 23/2/09)

Crouz (3), Carty, Whittaker

The Braves put up a good fight against Whinmoor early on, but despite finding the net themselves, two goals from Crouz saw Whinmoor leading 2-1 at half-time.

The second half was much tighter. Crouz completed his hat-trick, only for the Braves to reply with a cracking goal - Rothera left wondering how
they managed a shot from well outside the D to go straight over his head which left Whinmoor looking shocked. The teams exchanged goals once again, Whittaker scoring for Whinmoor, before Carty completed the scoring with a late goal taking the final score to 5-3. The teams meet again next week at Skelton Woods. (Posted by GB 1/3/09)

Keen to avenge last weeks defeat, our visitors Harrogate Railway Braves played well in the first 20 mins, but the unstoppable Piteu Crouz had completed his hat-trick by the 26th minute. The Braves had managed to pull one back just before half time.

The second half saw Crouz still hungry for more, and completed another hat-trick for the second half. Musonda almost curled a brilliant corner straight in, but it just bounced off the line. For the last 20 minutes, Harrogate gave it a real go, but Whinmoor never lost their composure and completed the win with no further incident. A great win for an improved Whinmoor. A strong Boroughbridge visited Skelton Woods, and were ahead after 2 mins. Crouz managed to pull one
back after 11mins, but Boroughbridge's domination meant when the half-time whistle went, the score was 3-1 to the visitors.

During the second half, Crouz managed to score twice more, and had another disallowed for offside. Crouz's reputation has obviously spread, and he took quite a battering from their defenders, who were determined to stop him at any cost. Despite some great saves from Rothera, Whinmoor couldn't prevent Boroughbridge taking the game by the scruff of the nect, and finally running out 8-3 winners. (Posted by GB 15/3/09)

The second half started with a bang when Crouz scored from a great header, only for Knaresbrough to equalise shortly after. Musonda was denied twice more, as was Whittaker. Whittaker, Crouz (2)

Whinmoor knew their our trip to table-toppers Pannal Sports wasn't going to be an easy one, and so it proved. Reserve keeper Goodman was given a torrid time, starting with a 3rd minute penalty, and although Guy worked his socks off in defence, and Whittaker managed to get on the scoresheet just before the break, Whinmoor went for their half-time oranges 5-1 down.

The second half saw a more focused Whinmoor. Both Crouz and Musonda went close, and Cooper was also denied after a good effort. Crouz wouldn't be denied, though, and he still found the onoin bag twice, but the celebration was short lived and Pannal Sports pulled away with two further goals to take the final score to 7-3.

In their final game of a much improved season, Whinmoor opened the scoring on two minutes with a great goal from Crouz, but league leaders Pannal Sports are not top for nothing and soon came back to equalise, and half way through the first half, the visitors were 2-1 ahead. Crouz beat the keeper to a through ball to take the teams into the break level at 2-2.

In the second half Pannal Sports took a little more control of the game, and managed to edge ahead. Musonda worked very hard, but he could not find that little bit of luck in front of the net. Crouz completed yet another hat-trick, but Pannal managed to edge ahead once more, and then extended their lead with 10 minutes left. The league leaders closed out the victory, despite some fine play from Whinmoor. Credit should go to our goalkeeper Jack Rothera who showed how much he has improved over the season. Josh Ross and Aiden Guy both had outstanding games, and congratulations to Pannal Sports who once again gave us a great game. (Posted by GB 19/4/09)
