The 2006/07 season will be remembered as a watershed for this side, and it proved to be the last with manager Wayne Johnson at the helm. Determined to go out on a high, the squad remained ostensibly the same, with only the addition of speed merchant Damir Mulavdic, and we started off well with a two comfortable victories. Going for three trophies this year, the League cup provided the most astonishing game of many a season, with a Harry Uttley goal in added time at the end of extra time giving us a exhausting 6-5 win away at Knaresborough. Interest in the West Riding cup ended with a ignominious defeat at home to league rivals Boroughbridge, but the game following this set the tone for the rest of the season. After being targeted with late tackles all the way through the first half, Ed Jowett finally cracked following a two-footed tackle above the knee. His retaliation brought a red-card and suspension, and the season collapsed slightly after this. Defeat in the league cup was followed by five league defeats in their last six games, their worst ever run, and the defeat at Pannal Panthers at the end of the season brought a disappointing season to an end. Wayne and Roger left the club on a bit of a downbeat note, having been involved for 7 seasons and built a very strong side. Unfortunately, with them went a number of players, meaning that the future was left a little uncertain.
Tenacious centre-half Tom Walker and Will Duree, with his ferocious left foot, took the player of the year honours, and once again Harry Uttleys 23 goals were crucial.
